Coach Dave Tippett apparently has been rewarded for leading the Stars to the Western Conference finals. The Dallas Morning News reported Saturday that Tippett has agreed to a three-year extension that the team will announce next week. The new deal would keep Tippett under contract with the club through the 2010-11 season. ?We have an agreement in principle,? Stars co-GM Les Jackson told the Morning News. ?We?re 99 percent there. I don?t think we play again until next September, so we have a little bit of time.?

The Hurricanes on Thursday agreed to terms with right wing Harrison Reed on a three-year deal, as reported by Yahoo.com. The right wing Reed, who also received a $100,000 bonus, will make an average of $500,000 per season in the NHL or $55,000 in the minor leagues.

The Thrashers on Thursday secured a pair of prospects, agreeing to terms with Arturs Kulda and Rylan Kaip on contracts, as reported by Yahoo.com. Terms were not disclosed.

Coach Peter Laviolette will be back for a fifth season with the Hurricanes, according to an Associated Press report. GM Jim Rutherford said Friday that the team would retain the coach who in 2006 led the Hurricanes to their only Stanley Cup. There had been speculation for the past month about Laviolette?s future after missing the playoffs in both seasons after its championship run.

The Bruins signed forward Chuck Kobasew to a multi-year extension on Tuesday after he enjoyed a breakout season, according to The Associated Press. The team didn't disclose the financial terms of the deal. He notched career highs of 22 goals, 17 assists and 39 points in 73 games this past campaign. Unfortunately, he missed the Bruins playoff series with the Canadiens because of a broken leg.

The Canadiens on Monday agreed to terms with center Ryan White on a three-year contract, as reported by Yahoo.com. Financial terms were not disclosed.
